Profile
Stem Cell Scientist, Regenerative Medicine Researcher and Educator
Dr. Noreen Latief joined CEMB as a PhD scholar and, after completing her doctorate, returned as Assistant Professor in the Stem Cells Regenerative Lab. Her research centres on organ regeneration without the need for transplantation, using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as a personalised-medicine approach.
She focuses on prevalent, impactful conditions such as osteoarthritis and spinal cord injury, harnessing the regenerative potential of stem cells from umbilical cord and adipose tissue to reinforce paracrine signalling, homing, survival and chemotaxis under oxidative-stress conditions.
Her group modulates stem cells through priming, antioxidants and phytoextracts, integrating them with amniotic membrane, silk scaffolds and nanoparticles, working toward translating fundamental research into clinical application.
