Plant Biotechnologist, Biosafety Researcher and Educator
Dr. Azam holds an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of the Punjab and an M.Phil in Biotechnology from the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. She completed her doctoral studies at CEMB.
Her career began in 2005 at CEMB as a Research Officer (BPS-17), advancing to Research Officer cum Lecturer (BPS-18). She leads the Biosafety group conducting comprehensive risk assessments of GM crops and mentors M.Phil students while serving as a resource person for CEMB workshops.
Her research interests centre on the development of insect-resistant cotton and the critical evaluation of risks associated with GM crops.
