Profile
Molecular biologist and forensic genetics researcher
Syed Muhammad Nauman Jillani has served as an Assistant Research Officer at CEMB since 2011. His work involves processing and analysing biological samples, applying molecular and biochemical methods, and supporting multidisciplinary research in forensic science and molecular biology.
His research spans human DNA forensics, plant forensics and protein biochemistry. He applies molecular methods to DNA isolation, purification, amplification and characterization; forensic DNA profiling and STR-based analysis; botanical evidence identification; DNA barcoding and molecular marker-based species discrimination; and phylogenetic analysis. His protein research includes extraction, purification, fractionation and biochemical characterization, with an emphasis on developing and validating reliable laboratory protocols.
He aims to bring molecular genetics, forensic biology and protein science together to improve the analysis of complex biological evidence. His work emphasizes analytical accuracy, reproducibility and translational research. He holds an MPhil in Molecular Biology (2020) and a BS (Hons) in Bioinformatics (2009).
