Profile
Molecular Biologist, Biotechnologist and Educator
Prof. Dr. Kausar Malik served as a professor of molecular biology at CEMB, University of the Punjab, from 1988 to 2026. Her academic training includes an MSc in Zoology with specialization in Biochemistry, a PhD in Molecular Biology from CEMB and postdoctoral work in applied molecular biology.
Across more than three decades of teaching, research and academic administration, she has contributed to molecular biotechnology, microbiology, entomology, immunology and nanobiotechnology. She served as Director of CEMB from April 2022 to July 2023 and previously held research and administrative leadership roles at CEMB and Lahore College for Women University.
Her work connects fundamental molecular biology with practical applications, including plant-derived antimicrobial and anticancer compounds, crop biotechnology, rapid Bt-crop detection, bacteriophages and molecular tools for research laboratories.
